Donor Lauren understands proper nutrition and managing stress

Quick facts:

  • Mom of four
  • Registered dietitian
  • Over 14,000 ounces donated and counting

“I work as a registered dietitian and have been married to my husband for eight years. We share four children, Scarlett (6), Evette (5), Portia (3.5) and Holden (2). I have a '77 Firebird I restored with my dad that I enjoy taking to car shows. We recently bought a ’62 Oldsmobile wagon so our family can ride together to the shows. We live on a lake, and I enjoy slalom waterskiing any chance I get. I am also a newfound motorcycle enthusiast and have found riding to be an incredible way to reduce stress and boost confidence.

I have always been an over-producer and wanted to help other mothers in need. With Holden completing our family, pumping and donating my excess milk has helped me transition out of the baby-stage part of life by giving me a sense of fulfillment. Knowing my milk is serving an incredible purpose is wonderful. In my two-year pumping journey, I have donated over 14,510 ounces, and I am so proud of that achievement.

Finding time to pump during the day while caring for my family has been challenging, but so rewarding knowing my milk is nourishing so many tiny babies in need. I nursed my son until he was naturally ready to wean, so pumping also helped keep my milk supply up for him. The compensation has helped my family tremendously. I’ve been able to work part-time and spend more time with my family. We've also been able to do some home remodeling and get our kids involved in sports and other activities. Tiny Treasures has been the perfect fit for us.

My advice to other donors: Remember to take time for yourself to enjoy life! Live your dreams and don't let pumping get in the way of that. Stay hydrated and treat yourself to your favorite dessert. You are amazing and deserve it!”
